GARDNER- RESURFACING AND RUMBLE STRIP INSTALLATION ON ROUTE 140
The Route 140 corridor between Green Street and the Winchendon/Gardner town lines was part of an overall larger passing zone evaluation and safety study that examined existing passing zones in relation with vehicle speeds, regulatory and warning signage throughout Winchendon and Gardner. This study resulted in short term low cost safety improvements to mitigate lane departure crashes. The section of Route 140 included in this project was identified as having fair to poor pavement conditions. This project proposes to resurface 1.4 miles of Route 140 under the City of Gardner’s jurisdiction. As part of this project, rumble strip and rumble stripes will be provided, as well as embedded delineators. Drainage structures will be adjusted or reconstructed accordingly, but no changes are proposed to the overall drainage. Guardrail end treatments will be reviewed and revised accordingly.
