CHICOPEE- INTERSECTION IMPROVEMENTS AT MONTGOMERY STREET, GRANBY ROAD, AND MCKINSTRY AVENUE

The project includes the reconstruction of the intersections of Montgomery Street at Granby Road and McKinstry Avenue, Montgomery Street at Shopping Plaza driveway, and Montgomery Street at the Massachusetts Turnpike Interchange 49 ramps. The intersection of Montgomery Street at Granby Road and McKinstry Avenue is proposed to be separated into two roundabouts: one for Montgomery Street at Granby Road and one for Granby Road and McKinstry Avenue. A third roundabout is proposed at Montgomery Street at the Massachusetts Turnpike Interchange 49 ramps. Improved pedestrian accommodations are proposed with new cement concrete sidewalks, HMA shared-use paths, crosswalks, and ADA compliant pedestrian ramps at each roundabout. The roadway improvements for this project will also include roadway widening, full depth pavement, new vertical granite curbing, new reflectorized thermoplastic pavement markings, regulatory and warning signs, roadside restoration, and vegetation clearing. The project has a total length of approximately 2,704 linear feet (0.521-miles). The project limits are as follows: • Along Montgomery Street from approximately 230-feet South of the Mass Turnpike Interchange 49 ramps to approximately 300-feet North of McKinstry Avenue; and • Along Granby Road from approximately 170-feet West of Bay State Road to approximately 330-feet East of McKinstry Avenue; and • Along McKinstry Ave from approximately 300-feet East of Sherbrooke Street to Granby Road.
