Project Description:
BARNSTABLE- CONSTRUCTION OF A SHARED USE PATH ALONG BEARSES WAY, FROM ROUTE 28 TO PITCHERS WAY
Construct a new paved bicycle/pedestrian shared-use path along a grassed/wooded area on the west side of Bearse’s Way, from the DPW south drive to Pitcher’s Way, a distance of 3802 feet or .72 miles. The paved width of the path will be 10 feet and 3-foot unpaved stabilized shoulders will be provided on each side with slopes no greater than 6:1 horizontal to vertical. Utilities will be relocated if necessary. Drainage will be improved as necessary/appropriate. Lighting will be installed through wooded areas; open areas are lit by existing street lights. Arborvitae will be planted along the DPW chain link fence for visual screening and a safety buffer. A crosswalk and ADA-compliant sidewalk ramps will be installed across Pitcher’s Way at Bearse’s Way. The shared-use path terminus at Pitcher’s Way will include a splitter channel to prevent vehicle access.
