Project Description: |
PITTSFIELD- RECONSTRUCTION OF EAST STREET (ROUTE 9) FROM ELM STREET TO LYMAN STREET
The project begins at Copley Terrace and ends about 350-ft east of Lyman St (total distance 0.45 mi). East Street is a commercial two-lane corridor that connects former industrial (G.E.) and commercial areas to downtown Pittsfield. The project is proposing a shared center turn lane (TWLTL) to improve corridor operation/safety; re-configuration of the intersection at East/Elm/Fourth Streets (considering a roundabout); re-configuration of the intersection at East St/Fenn St; adding buffered bike lanes; upgrading existing sidewalks/ramps/crossings to full ADA compliance; and softening corridor aesthetics by adding streetscape amenities, landscaping, and a pocket park to create an eastern gateway into the City’s downtown.
