LYNNFIELD- RECONSTRUCTION OF SUMMER STREET
The limits of the project are its intersection with Salem Street (Rte. 129) to the south/east and just beyond Town Hall at the north/west end of the project, a distance of approximately 2.6 miles. The project stops short of the Historic District. The primary goal of the project is to rehabilitate the roadway while also providing bicycle accommodations and ADA compliant sidewalks and ramps as per the "Vision" of the Town's Master Plan, the Commonwealth's "Healthy Transportation Policy" and the Town's commitment to the "Complete Streets" Initiative. Also improvements to the Salem Street and Walnut Street intersections including alterations to make them more pedestrian friendly. Another goal of the project is to properly treat drainage prior to it entering Pillings Pond and Hawkes Brook which have been labeled as "Category 5 Impaired". Finally the project will provide better crossing for turtles and such using an open-bottomed culvert at the Pillings Pond outlet at Summer Street.
