The work to be done under this contract consists of pedestrian ramp construction, sidewalk reconstruction, repairs and upgrades at various locations as depicted in the plans. Work shall include, but is not limited to, construction or reconstruction of cement concrete pedestrian ramps, construction or reconstruction of cement concrete and bituminous concrete sidewalks, drainage alterations as needed, removing and resetting of curb and transition curb as required, and repairing of roadway cuts required to perform work. The Contractor will receive a work order for each location to be constructed. For each location, the Contractor shall prepare and submit for approval a sketch plan of proposed work indicating horizontal and vertical dimensions, and slopes both longitudinal and transverse to the sidewalk. The Contractor shall prepare an appropriate Pedestrian Management Plan and Temporary Traffic Control Plan, for each location, in compliance with current MassDOT and ADA guidelines, subject to approval of the Resident Engineer. All work shall be within the tolerances established in the Construction Standard Details. All work done under this contract shall be located within the State Highway Layout and City/Town Layout and shall be performed from the roadway shoulder to the maximum extent practical. MassDOT has incorporated pedestrian ramp locations in the following cities and towns; Holyoke, Southampton, Templeton, Wales, Ware, West Brookfield, Westfield, and Winchendon.
