DISTRICT 1- ADA RETROFITS AT VARIOUS LOCATIONS

The work to be done under this Contract consists of pedestrian curb ramp and sidewalk construction, repairs and upgrades in 10 Municipalities. Work shall include, but is not limited to, construction or reconstruction of cement concrete pedestrian curb ramps, cement concrete sidewalks and bituminous concrete sidewalks, removing and resetting, or replacing, curb and transition curb, drainage alterations as needed, traffic control signal upgrades as needed, and repairing of roadway cuts required to perform work. The Contractor shall prepare an appropriate Pedestrian Management Plan and Traffic Management Plan, for each location, in compliance with current MassDOT and ADA guidelines, subject to approval of the Engineer. All work shall be completed within the tolerances established in the Construction Standard Details. All work done under this contract shall be located within the State Highway Layout, City/Town Layout and the easements show on the Plans. Work shall be performed from the roadway shoulder to the maximum extent practical. MassDOT has recognized pedestrian curb ramp locations in the following cities and towns; Chester, Dalton, Great Barrington, Lee, North Adams, Otis, Pittsfield, Russell, Williamsburg and Williamstown.
