WENHAM- SAFETY IMPROVEMENTS ON ROUTE 1A

The work to be done under this contract consists of roadway and intersection improvements along 0.265 miles of Main Street (Route 1A) through the Town of Wenham’s downtown corridor and the reconstruction of three (3) major intersections: Cherry Street, Monument Street, and Arbor Street/Friend Court. The roadway improvements along Main Street include, but are not limited to milling and overlaying existing pavement with new bituminous concrete pavement, reconstructing ADA compliant hot mix asphalt sidewalks and cement concrete wheelchair ramps, installing new granite curb, drainage adjustments, and installing new pavement marking and signing. Intersection improvements include the installation of two (2) new traffic signal systems (including mast arms and foundations) at the intersections of Main Street with Cherry Street and Main Street with Arbor Street/Friend Court. The two (2) intersection signal systems are to operate in coordination via GPS communication, and the traffic signal equipment shall include emergency vehicle preemption.
