BROCKTON- INTERSECTION IMPROVEMENTS AND RELATED WORK AT CENTRE STREET (ROUTE 123), CARY STREET AND LYMAN STREET
The project proposes to address multimodal safety and access management at the Centre Street (Route 123)/Lyman Street/Cary Street intersection. Proposed work includes reconstructed traffic signals and sidewalks, in addition to upgrading pavement markings, signage, curbing, street lighting and drainage if necessary.
Consideration is also being given to performing some geometric improvements to improve corner radii to better accommodate right turning trucks. Also, constructing new exclusive left turn lanes to process more traffic and improve vehicular safety will be considered. In addition, consideration will be given to eliminating some curb cuts very close to the intersection for purposes of improving access management. Finally, consideration of constructing a turnout at the bus stop on Lyman Street is proposed along with installing emergency vehicle pre-emption within the reconstructed signals to reduce hazards associated with moving emergency vehicles safely through the intersection.
