FITCHBURG- LEOMINSTER- TWIN CITIES RAIL TRAIL CONSTRUCTION (PHASE II)
The project involves construction of a rail trail along a commercial corridor between the urban centers of Fitchburg and Leominster. The trail will be built along an abandoned rail corridor and will provide the connections between the first phase of the project to the Intermodal facility in downtown Fitchburg to the north and downtown Leominster to the south.
The project includes construction of the a 12 foot side paved multi-use path with two foot shoulders, improvements to at-grade crossings including signalization, rehabilitation to an existing structure and construction of two new structures. Related work includes installation of signage, pavement markings and bike path amenities.
