ARLINGTON- STRATTON SCHOOL IMPROVEMENTS (SRTS)

Provide fully accessible safe walking route with safe roadway crossings for pedestrians and children walking to Stratton Elementary School in Arlington on Hemlock Street between Pine Street and Dickson Avenue; and Dickson Avenue between Hemlock Street and Pheasant Avenue. Install new sidewalk on the east side of Hemlock Street between Lansdowne Road and Yerxa Road. Install new sidewalk on the southwest/northwest sides of the Hemlock Street and Dickson Avenue intersection and on the northwest side of Dickson Avenue to Pheasant Avenue. Install new or upgrade curb ramps within project limits. Repair or replace existing sidewalks on Hemlock Street from Dickson Avenue to Pine Street. Replace or reset existing granite curbing within project limits. Total amount of new and replaced sidewalk (standard 5' wide) amounts to approximately 2,434 linear feet. Narrow and modify roadway intersections with curb extensions to slow vehicles and reduce pedestrian crossing distances along Hemlock Street at the following intersections: Pine Street, Yerxa Road, and Dickson Avenue; and at Dickson Avenue and Pheasant Avenue. Provide safe and accessible pedestrian crossings across Hemlock Street at Yerxa Road and at Hemlock Street and Dickson Avenue, and at Dickson Avenue and Pheasant Avenue. Install all necessary signage and pavement markings. Install new pedestrian-activated signal (Rectangular Rapid Flashing Beacon) at Hemlock Street and Yerxa Road crosswalk.
