Project Description:
WESTFIELD- PEDESTRIAN AND BICYCLE IMPROVEMENTS ON MAIN STREET (ROUTE 20)
Roadway was identified through the Pedestrian and Bicycle Plans for high potential for Walkable Trips and Everyday Biking with the aim to increase and improve for people walking biking and taking transit. The proposed project consists of adding a sidewalk on the north side of US 20 between Noble Street and Delmont Avenue in the City of Westfield, improving transit accommodations, and reconstructing curb lines and wheelchair ramps at the intersections with Meadow Street and Mainline Drive. Protected bike lanes are proposed between Mainline Drive and Delmont Avenue. The proposed roadway work includes milling and overlaying the existing roadway, and replacing traffic signal equipment to accommodate pedestrian crosswalks on all approaches to the four signalized project intersections.
