Project Description:
MONTAGUE- INTERSECTION IMPROVEMENTS AT ROUTE 63 AND NORTH LEVERETT ROAD
This project is intended to improve safety at the Route 63 and Route 47/North Leverett Road intersection. MassDOT was asked by the selectboard of Montague to look into this stop-controlled intersection due to numerous accidents due primarily to very poor sight lines. This project will improve the approaching roadway geometry and sight distance. Exact geometric configuration has not been decided, but includes the possibility of realigning the west side of North Leverett Road further to the south to line up with the east end, a possible roundabout, possible lowering of the roadway profile, and modifications to the adjacent bridge; alternatives to be discussed with designer.
