HUNTINGTON- SUPERSTRUCTURE REPLACEMENT, H-27-008, ROUTE 112 OVER POND BROOK
The proposed superstructure replacement project's primary purpose and need is to address deterioration and structural deficiencies uncovered during inspection and resulting load rating analysis. The work will address the deficiencies that led to partial closure and get the bridge structure back to full capacity in the fastest most economical way while incorporating some improvements to pedestrian and bicycle users. Narrowing of the existing travel lanes will allow the new superstructure to accommodate a single compliant 5'-6" sidewalk on the eastern side of the bridge replacing an existing non-compliant sidewalk. Moreover, reduction of the travel lanes from 12' to 10' will also allow for 5' buffered bicycle lanes in both the northbound and southbound directions.
