FITCHBURG- PAVEMENT PRESERVATION AND RELATED WORK ON ROUTE 2
This project consists of resurfacing a section of Route 2 in Fitchburg. The western limit is a pavement joint, located just east of James Pond in Fitchburg (mile 94.9). The eastern limit is a pavement joint, located just west of South Street in Fitchburg (mile 97.9) on the Fitchburg/Leominster Townline. There will be no resurfacing or related work on and 50 feet from the beginning and end of the Monoosoc Bridges. The total length of this project is approximately 3.0 miles. The limits of work also include the ramps at Mt. Elam Road, Oak Hill Road and Palmer Road.
The work to be done consists primarily of milling and resurfacing the existing mainline and ramps. Recessed polyurea pavement markings, preformed tape, and recessed reflectors shall be installed throughout the project. This project also consists of installing a high friction surface treatment on isolated segments. Related work includes clearing; adjusting and rebuilding drainage structures; replacing damaged frames and grates/covers within the traveled way with locking frames and grates/covers; resetting or replacing deficient granite edging, replacing deficient HMA berm; replacing existing substandard guardrail; and cleaning out drainage structures, drainage piping, and drainage outfalls.
