LYNN- NAHANT- NORTHERN STRAND EXTENSION

The proposed project improvements include eliminating a travel lane and constructing a 10-ft wide two-way separated bike lane with a 3-ft wide curbed median providing the separation. Existing sidewalks and street parking will be retained along the majority of the corridor with the exception of a few off-road connections in the form of a 10-ft wide shared-use path to complete the 1.9-miles. In addition to minor intersection improvements, some signal upgrades and timings are also proposed, along with pavement markings, signage, landscaping and ADA improvements along the corridor. There are a total of 17 at-grade roadway crossings between the two project termini. Crossings of the bicycle trail present both operational and safety considerations for motorists and trail users. The crossing locations are as follows; in Lynn, Western Avenue, South Street, Elm Street, Market Square, Commercial Street, South Common Street, Huss Court, Shepard Street, Blossom Street, Pleasant Street, Market Street / North Common Street / Central Avenue (City Hall Square), Tremont Street, State Street, Broad Street, Lynnway (Carroll Parkway), in Nahant, Nahant Road.
