SPRINGFIELD- INTERSECTION AND SAFETY IMPROVEMENTS AT ARMORY CIRCLE

A full traffic and safety analysis will be completed as part of the procurement of the design contract, and the scope altered or amended based on the findings. Currently, the basic proposed scope of this project is to signalize all stop controlled intersections, upgrade the existing signals where they are existing, improve pedestrian safety and mobility with new sidewalks, ramps, and pedestrian phases. Where feasible, shoulders will be widened and bicycle facilities addressed as part of the project scoping analysis. Though the addition of new lanes are not currently foreseen, it is anticipated that the pavement at the intersections will be improved with a new structural or functional overlay and new paint/line striping. Improvements to the signage, curbing, and drainage will be addressed as needed.
