SPRINGFIELD- INTERSECTION IMPROVEMENTS AT CAREW STREET AND DWIGHT STREET

The intent of this project is to update this intersection to be safer for all users. The expected scope of this project includes either constructing a roundabout or updating the signalized intersection. The existing condition includes a signalized intersection with two lanes on Carew Street for both its approaches, Dwight Street has three lanes. The southbound approach of Dwight Street is a one way with three lanes; a left turn only, a through lane, and a shared through right turn lane. The northbound approach of Dwight Street has one right turn lane and one left turn lane. Pedestrian facilities are available but are not ADA compliant within the project limits and no bicycle facilities are present. Traffic volume analyses right-of-way and environmental impacts will dictate the lane configurations. Pedestrian and bicycle facilities will be updated where feasible.
