MEDFORD- INTERSECTION IMPROVEMENTS AT MAIN STREET/SOUTH STREET, MAIN STREET/MYSTIC VALLEY PARKWAY RAMPS, AND MAIN STREET/MYSTIC AVENUE

The scope of this project involves reconstruction of the intersection either by constructing a roundabout or reconstructing and updating the signal control system and lane assignments. The existing condition includes a non-functioning signalized intersection with three lanes from South Street /Route 16 ramp (one left turn only lane one through lane and one right turn only lane) and Main Street is a 4 lane roadway which has a median in the center and bike lanes with a painted buffer on the northern end that runs under Mystic Valley Parkway. Pedestrian facilities are present at this intersection. A detailed alternatives analysis will be conducted to identify the preferred traffic control for the intersection, in addition to improvements to accessibility, bicycle and pedestrian accommodation.
