SPRINGFIELD- 3 BRIDGE REPLACEMENTS, S-24-017, ST. JAMES AVENUE OVER CSX, S-24-070, TAPLEY STREET OVER I-291 AND CSX, S-24-071, ST. JAMES AVENUE OVER I-291 (DESIGN-BUILD)

The proposed project consists of transportation improvements to the intersections of St. James Ave and Interstate 291 and the reconstruction of the Tapley Street bridge over Interstate 291. The proposed improvements include the reconstruction the Tapley Street bridge, the St. James Avenue bridge over I-291, and the intersection of St. James Avenue and Page Boulevard. The intersection of the St. James Avenue, Page Boulevard and I-291 will be reconstructed to a diverging diamond interchange with a roundabout at the intersection of St. James Avenue and Page Boulevard. Improvements include bridge reconstruction, roadway construction drainage modification, new crosswalks, pavement markings / signage, dedicated turn lanes for predominant movements, buffered bicycle lanes, shared use paths and sidewalks with pedestrian curb ramps that meet current standards throughout the project area.
