WORCESTER- SUPERSTRUCTURE REPLACEMENT, W-44-091, I-290 OVER EAST CENTRAL STREET

The proposed project consists of the superstructure replacement of the bridge carrying I-290 over East Central Street. Once the project has been completed, the life cycle and serviceability of the bridge will be extended and safety for all roadway users will be increased. The proposed work along Interstate-290 is designed to match the existing geometry of the freeway both horizontally and vertically without creating a larger footprint. Existing 16-foot median with 2-foot left shoulders is being removed and replaced with a two-sided F-Shape barrier, resulting in new 6-foot left shoulders with 2-foot horizontal buffers to the median barrier.
