RUSSELL- BRIDGE REPLACEMENT, R-13-02T, BRIDGE STREET OVER WESTFIELD RIVER (DESIGN-BUILD)

The purpose of this project is to demolish and replace the existing closed bridge carrying Bridge Street over the Westfield River with a new structure. The new structure will be a Two Span Open Spandrel Steel Deck Arch with a multi-span continuous stringer-floorbeam superstructure system in the approach spans on either side. This design will be similar to the existing design to honor the historic nature of the original bridge. The temporary bridge carrying Valley View Avenue will remain open to traffic during the construction of the replacement structure at the Bridge Street location and will be demolished at the completion of the Bridge Street bridge.
