DENNIS- YARMOUTH- BRIDGE REPLACEMENT, D-07-004=Y-01-003, ROUTE 28 OVER BASS RIVER INCLUDING INTERSECTION IMPROVEMENTS AT MAIN STREET(ROUTE 28)/NORTH MAIN STREET/OLD MAIN STREET

Work on this project consists of replacement of the Route 28 bridge over Bass River and associated roadway work. The project traverses along Route 28, beginning at Mill Lane in Yarmouth and extending to Uncle Barney's Road in Dennis. The proposed cross section will two travel and shoulders along with a sidewalk on the north side and a shared use along the south side. The new bridge will have longer spans with fewer piers and pilings which will improve the overall view shed, tidal flushing and general navigation. The Route 28/Main/Old Main/North Main Street intersection, which has been identified as a high crash intersection will also be reconstructed. New traffic signals and dedicated turn lanes are proposed. Minor improvements are also proposed at North Main Street/Station Avenue intersection.
