DISTRICT 5- SAFETY IMPROVEMENTS AT VARIOUS LOCATIONS
The project will improve safety for all road users by implementing short-term safety improvements at various targeted locations. Improvements may include signage, pavement markings, improving existing crosswalks or installing new crosswalks, signal timing updates, curb extensions, etc. This project is being initiated for District 5 (not including the islands) with the final list of projects included below: Corridor-wide systematic improvements: -Implement passing zone closure per District Traffic Section recommendations -Dennis Rte 6A: crosswalk and sidewalk improvements, including RRFBs Specific locations: -Duxbury - Rte 53/Franklin St: tighten up curb radii at intersection, add painted median islands -Rehoboth - Rte 6/Barney Ave: construct an island to restrict left turns (create right in right out) -Marion - Rte 105/Front St: short road diet to implement an exclusive left turn on Rte 6; other short term improvements -Duxbury - Rte 3A/Rte 139: tighten up curb radii at intersection with paint and curb bump-outs -Easton - Rte 138/Turnpike St: better channelization of intersection
