LYNNFIELD- RAIL TRAIL CONSTRUCTION, FROM FORD AVENUE TO THE PEABODY CITY LINE
Phase 1 project consists of a 12-ft wide asphalt shared-use path with 2-ft wide soft surface (grass) shoulders. The route extends 1.81 miles from Ford Avenue in Lynnfield to the Lynnfield Peabody town line with most of the route occupying the former railroad track bed. There are two roadway crossings at Summer Street and Pillings Pond Road, both in Lynnfield. The project scope includes a shared-use path, connecting pathways, minor landscaping, trail amenities (benches, interpretive signage, bicycle racks, etc.), wetland replication area, removal of former railroad structures, crosswalks with ADA compliant pedestrian curb ramps, fencing, a pedestrian activated warning beacon, traffic signage, and pavement markings.
