Project Description:
LYNNFIELD- PEABODY- RAIL TRAIL CONSTRUCTION, FROM FORD AVENUE TO NICHOLS LANE (PHASE 1)
Phase 1 consists of about 1.8 miles of shared-use path, extending from Ford Avenue in Lynnfield to Nichols Lane in Peabody with two roadway crossings at Summer Street and Pillings Pond Road. The path is 12 feet wide with 2-foot-wide grass shoulders constructed mostly on the former railroad track bed. The project scope also includes minor landscaping, trail amenities (benches, interpretive signage, bicycle racks, etc.), wetland replication, removal of former railroad structures, ADA compliant pedestrian curb ramps at crossings, a pedestrian activated warning beacon, traffic signage, and pavement markings.
