NORFOLK- WRENTHAM- WALPOLE- SHARED-USE PATH INSTALLATION (METACOMET GREENWAY) (DESIGN ONLY)

The proposed project will construct a 12' shared use path to begin at Depot Street in Wrentham and end at the Lorusso Athletic complex in Walpole. Beginning at Depot St an underpass/culvert at Route 140 is anticipated utilizing the prior route of the railroad under 140. The path will then continue through private parcels and a state owned property with sections on elevated boardwalk through wetland areas prior to continuing through the Rice Recreation Area. The path will then continue through a state owned parcel (Wrentham Developmental Center) to the Norfolk Town line before advancing as a sidepath along Shire Drive and Route 1A in Norfolk then along Route 1A and Cushing Drive in Wrentham. Roadway and drainage improvements to Shire Drive and Cushing Drive may be required. From Cushing Drive the path will continue through private properties to the Norfolk Town Line and then along the abandoned railroad right of way which is privately owned in Norfolk until reaching the Walpole town line and ending at the Lorusso Athletic Complex. In Norfolk a bridge over Route 115 is anticipated and at grade crossing at Hill St is proposed. Proposed path is new construction and accordingly is expected to be full depth construction. Road work is anticipated at the roadway crossings. Existing rail corridor is not in service/abandoned.
