HATFIELD- NORTHAMPTON- BICYCLE AND PEDESTRIAN IMPROVEMENTS ON ROUTE 5/10, INCLUDES BRIDGE REPLACEMENT, H-11-007, WEST STREET (ROUTE 5/10) OVER GUTTER BROOK

The project will close pedestrian gaps by providing ADA / accessible sidewalks and ramps from the District 2 office to the northern limits (Waxing Café, 34 West St, West Hatfield, MA 01088). Enhanced crosswalks will be added to provide access to transit stops. The project wlll provide a Shared Use Path from the Big Y to Linseed Road, which may require curbline adjustments. The project may require culvert extensions at different locations. In addition, the intersection of Route 5 and Hatfield Street will be realigned, and the Running Gutter Creek culvert will be replaced and widened. In addition, the necessary cross section widening may require temporary and permanent strip taking of properties along the corridor; as well as some utilities relocation.
