DISTRICT 2- ACCESSIBILITY IMPROVEMENTS AT MULTIPLE LOCATIONS (CENTRAL PROJECT)

The first location is in Palmer along Route 20 (Park St) at the intersections of Pleasant St and Pinney St where deficient pedestrian curb ramps will be reconstructed and upgraded to full ADA compliance. A reciprocal ramp opposite Pleasant St on the north side of Route 20 will be constructed and a crosswalk striped. The addition of an Rapid Rectangular Flashing Beacon should be evaluated at this new crossing and the existing midblock crossing at Pinney St. It is also recommended that a combined 1,250-feet of new sidewalk be constructed on the north and south sides of Route 32 (Park St). The second location is in Holyoke along Hampden St in the vicinity of the I91 NB off ramp where deficient pedestrian curb ramps will be reconstructed and upgraded to full ADA compliance. It is also recommended that a a total of 750-feet of sidewalk in poor condition is reconstructed an the addition of a Rapid Rectangular Flashing Beacon at the crosswalk for the I-91 NB offramp be evaluated. The third location is in Chicopee at the intersection of Route 116 (Chicopee St) at Route 116 Springfield St and Granby Rd where two deficient pedestrian curb ramps will be reconstructed and upgraded to full ADA compliance. The other four pedestrian curb ramps at this location should also be reconstructed and all crosswalks restriped. It is also recommended all pedestrian signal equipment be upgraded. The fourth location is in Westfield at the intersection of US Route 202 (MA Route 10) at Colonial Pine Acre where deficient pedestrian curb ramps will be reconstructed and upgraded to full ADA compliance. An additional two pedestrian curb ramps should be constructed to provide a crossing across Route 202 with striped crosswalks near the entrance of Colonial Pine Acre. It is also recommended that 30-feet of sidewalk is constructed to connect the curb ramp on the south side of Colonial Pine Acre to the new curb ramp proposed on the west side of Route 202.
