Project Description:
BOURNE- BRIDGE REPLACEMENT, B-17-004 (BOURNE BRIDGE) ROUTE 28 OVER THE CAPE COD CANAL, SANDWICH ROAD (ROUTE 6A) AND MCR/MBTA RR, B-17-019 (45L) ROUTE 28 OVER US 6 AND B-17-026 (457) ROUTE 28 ON/OFF RAMP OVER ROUTE 25 (CAPE COD BRIDGES PROGRAM PHASE II)
The scope of work includes the replacement of the Bourne Bridge and reconstructing the approach roadway network including the Route 28/Route 25/US 6 interchange and the Bourne Rotary. The existing 10 foot lanes on the bridge will be widened to 12 feet to match the existing State Route 28 and an auxiliary lane will be added on both barrels to meet design standards. A shared use path facility will be provided on the Bourne Bridge which will be brought down to grade and connect to new and existing multimodal facilities. Various intersections will also be reconstructed. Other structures that need to be replaced in order to reconstruct approach roadways includes Route 28 over US 6 and the Route 28 ramp over Route 25.
