STATEWIDE- WEIGH IN MOTION STATION ENHANCEMENTS AND EXPANSION AT 15 LOCATIONS

Provisions to capture more data on Commercial Truck Traffic in particular Weigh in Motion (WIM) data collection sites was a key need flagged by FHWA. A total of 15 potential WIM station locations were identified based on interstates and major highways at state boundary and locations with high truck volumes and potential permit violations. One system design that is used throughout buildout of 15 locations will help to safeguard the use of consistent equipment and MassDOT Highway Divisions ability to operate and maintain the systems after they are constructed. The design of this technology project will follow FHWAs prescribed Systems Engineering Process (a ConOps, System Requirements, and then both a High Level and Detailed Design).
