NORTH ADAMS- INTERSECTION IMPROVEMENTS AT STATE STREET AND MAIN STREET

This project proposes to reconstruct this municipally-owned, signalized intersection at State Street and Main Street as recommended in the City’s Reconnecting Communities Grant funded “R2OS” Study (2025). At the time of project initiation (Nov-2025) two concepts were presented; a traffic signal improvement project or a new roundabout. The design concept also includes a shared-use path. The City’s R2OS Study indicates that, regardless of the alternative chosen, the West Main Street bridge (N-14-011) will require widening to accommodate either design. MassDOT owns this bridge; therefore, further evaluation is necessary.
