AMHERST- SUNDERLAND- PAVEMENT PRESERVATION ON SR116 (MM 24.06-28.70)

The work to be completed under this contract consists of two pavement treatments on Route 116 in the Towns of Amherst and Sunderland. The first treatment is roadway milling, resurfacing, and crack sealing for approximately 3.6 miles starting at the southern limit of the project. The second treatment is crack sealing only for approximately 1 mile starting at the northern limit of the project. The project begins at the pavement joint approximately 173 ft north of Route 116/Meadow Street intersection (mile marker 23.76) and ends at the pavement joint approximately 468 ft south of Route 116/47 intersection in Sunderland (mile marker 28.39). The length of the project is 4.6 miles. The contract specified thickness for milling and HMA resurfacing is designed to maintain the existing roadway surface elevation. Field changes which will alter the final pavement elevation must be approved by the Engineer. The work also includes replacement of dated guardrail, removal of built-up material on shoulders to restore country drainage, adjusting and/or rebuilding drainage structures, installing recessed pavement markings and slotted pavement markers, implementing temporary traffic controls, and other incidental items as set forth in the proposal and required to complete the work.
