EGREMONT- SHEFFIELD- CULVERT REPLACEMENTS ON ROUTE 41 (DESIGN-BUILD)
This project proposes to replace two short-span bridges and three culverts on Route 41 in Sheffield and Egremont. None of these structures are eligible for bridge funding under current MassDOT programs. The five structures are all at advanced levels of deterioration. At the Egremont location, Route 41 was reduced to one-lane alternating traffic (with temp. signal) and the other four locations are in similar condition. No highway widening is proposed; all work is intended to occur within SHLO; new structures will meet stream-crossing standards. The three culverts are:1. Egremont Route 41 over un-named stream to Harman Marsh Pond (just north of Sheffield town-line); 2. Sheffield (S-10-022) Route 41 over tributary to Willard Brook (800-ft north of Berkshire School Rd); 3. Sheffield Route 41 over Bear Rock Brook (2,100-ft north of CT line). The two Short-Span Bridges are: 1. Sheffield (S-10-025) Route 41 over Race Brook (1,800-ft south of Salisbury Rd) and 2. Sheffield (S-10-026) Route 41 over Dry Brook (at intersection of Salisbury Rd).
